Canada & U.S. · Issue #6
The morning, in six stories.
By the Achilles Canada & U.S. Desk · October 13, 2026
Correction (Oct 13, 2026): An earlier version of this issue — and recent Canada & U.S. issues — linked to third-party sites while attributing the stories to Reuters, Bloomberg, and other outlets. Those links have been removed. We now verify that every outbound link's domain matches its attributed outlet before publishing. On the same day, the full story list was re-checked: 40 of the 53 listed stories were removed because their links pointed to aggregator or scraper sites rather than the attributed outlet, 6 were relabeled to their true publisher (CP24, Castanet, Reuters), and 13 stories with verified outlet links remain. Bare homepage links in story attributions were replaced with plain outlet names.

The IMF raised its global growth forecast to 3.1% as AI investment offsets higher energy prices. It warned that a sharp AI-investment pullback could reduce global GDP by 1.1% by 2028 and that a deeper war could cut 2027 growth by half a percentage point.
